Foire provençale de l’olive

Colour lithograph

80 x 60cm

The silhouette of the ageing olive trees, naturally expressive, offered itself to a work of angular, graphical interpretation. Despite the extreme simplification of shapes, it is easy to recognise the olive tree. Loupot had a spark of genius in deciding to reduce the olives to black dots in staggered rows, imitating the work of an offset printer.
